About the Speaker Tracy Ford currently works for an acute rehab care center in California, providing intensive care, programming, and rehabilitation services to patients in order to restore independence and quality of life. Her clientele is comprised predominantly of geriatric patients, caregivers and families affected by trauma, illness and disease. She has worked with nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health agencies. Tracy holds a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Georgia. She is also a qualified instructor for the Alzheimer's Association's Certificate Program, which includes training in dementia care, challenging behaviors, dignity care, stress management, nutrition, the aging process and research updates. Objectives Upon completion of this program, you will be able to: Identify the difficult behaviors frequently expressed by older adults and be able to utilize appropriate interventions. Recognize the signs and symptoms for the different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease. Describe the approach and routine changes that help reduce or eliminate behavioral symptoms during activities of daily living. Establish new strategies and interventions for identifying the cause of behaviors, assessment and selection of appropriate techniques for managing challenging geriatric behaviors. |
